Spiral Brooch

An image of a penannular-style brooch with a tripe-spiral design on each end and a grey gemstone.

Sometimes called a “celtic brooch” or “cloak brooch,” these penannular style brooches are a great way to add a bit of decoration to a cloak or shawl. We make them out of solid cast bronze, so while they might be a little heavier than you expect, they will last a lifetime.

This brooch features two triple-spirals on each end. These triple spirals, or triskelions, are a common design motif found in prehistoric art across Europe. We specifically based the look of this one on the spiral found at the Neolithic burial mound of Newgrange in County Meath, Ireland. A Labradorite gemstone in set into the base of the bronze pin. It is approximately three inches in diameter, with a four inch long pin.
