This knife is something a little different for us! Instead of making one of our own steel or bronze blades, we worked with a local flint knapper and acquired some handmade blades out of stone!
The blade of this knife is made from cherry quartz. It is a soft pink color with areas of transparency and darker maroon. We carved the spiraling handle out of apple wood, which we harvested sustainably and thoughtfully from our own apple tree. Each piece of apple we get is a little different. When we finished sanding the handle, a dark triangular-shaped knot appeared, which coincidentally mirrors a similarly shaped dark inclusion within the stone of the blade!
The blade is securely glued in place and wrapped with hammered bronze wire. Total length is 8.5 inches. Blade length is 4.5 inches.
