This knife is something a little different for us! Instead of making one of our own steel or bronze blades, we worked with a local flint knapper and acquired some handmade blades out of stone!
The blade of this knife is made of opalite. Pictures do not do it justice! It’s transparent around the edges with a band of pearlescent color down the center. In shadow it seems to glow blue, but when you hold it up to the light it turns a smokey yellow. We carved the curving handle out of a dark walnut wood, which we chose because it contrasts so well with the blade. The blade is glued securely in place, and also wrapped with hammered silver wire. The total length is 8.5 inches. Blade length 4.5 inches.
