Rowan made this boline with a handle made from holly. Holly is a beautiful white wood, but it can be so featureless that it becomes boring as a plain handle. So Rowan created interest by carving intricate raised spirals down the length of its handle. It had a gently curving boline or sickle type blade, similar to the shape of early harvesting knives.
