“Something True” Wooden Sculpture

As we struggle to find a place in the world, it can sometimes feel as though we’ve lost parts of ourselves in an effort to fit in. When you find something true about yourself, something that is solid and real, hold it tight and don’t let it go.

“Something True” is carved from a single piece of weathered and worm-eaten wood from an old apple tree. The figure clutches a piece of multi-colored Lake Superior granite to their chest. Rowan created this self-portrait as an experiment in balancing differently textured mixed medias.
